Appearance

Glyds is a large, muscular canine. His paws are unusually big, portraying his heritage.

Height & Length: 95cm (At shoulder); 1.9m

Weight: 86kg

Pelt: Glyds' coat varies with shades of Gold, Brown, Creamy-white and Black. It is vigorous to the touch in Summer months, but much more light and softer in Winter.

Eyes: Heterochromatic; Left is Blue, right is Brown. These pigments are specific to Glyds' specie.

Personality

Glyds is generally mellow and calm, preferring to wallow in his own company rather than searching for others to socialise with. He prefers to make observations about his surroundings and others around him - this gives Glyds an element of control and authority, with him being the judge of what he witnesses.

Glyds enjoys his own company and can be found walking in rather dense forests of riversides; he enjoys the scenery and the natural acoustics within the area. He is also fond of heavy rain and snow - hot weather can overheat him, making sleep uncomfortable and impossible.

Being a guard, Glyds is always cautious - not frightened - but alert. He'll tend to scan the environment a couple times over, insuring that nothing has missed his view. This way, Glyds can deduce if a threat has approached him (Scents, silhouettes of others, tracks). This 'instinct' is due to his days as a rogue, only managing to scrap survival when he is alert and able to jump at any opportunity that may increase the percentage of him living through the night...

Despite being covered in scars, Glyds prefers to divert confrontation. It is only when he is threatened, angered or asked to by authority will he resort to violence. This control makes Glyds a friendly character, unwilling to prove his strength or authority, but rather allow others to feel safe and respected around him. He will nurture and care for his loved ones, despite having an irrational fear of pups.

History

Glyds was born on an unfortunate night in the Mountain territory, a storm ripping through the terrain - a storm that made survival impossible for his siblings. He was not the first born, but he was deemed the luckiest. Glyds's patriarch claimed him to be a natural survivor of the Mountain regions, a disappointment for his mother who was already attached to him. Their love was unfortunate and taboo - the mother knowing this all too well. She let go of her new-born, travelling back to her territory whilst Glyds was risen in with his Mountain relatives. The male strived in all tasks and soon enough his identity was exposed. This wasn't all bad - his Alpha decided to utilize his skills; a path was set out for him to become the second-in-command. Glyds's patriarch, however, detested such ideas. He didn't speak up until word hit the Forest dwellers.
It wasn't long before word hit and conflict arose; the packs wanting the youngling for themselves. Offspring with such genetics was treasured and not to be shared. They were too blind to unite themselves and create a pack with the equal strength.

Glyds found that he wasn't the strongest canine as he ran from the spontaneous invasion of the Forest dwellers, his father guiding him. He was too young to fight, but decided to engage combat with his patriarch... He came out the underdog. His father wasn't evil, but assertive! He told his son to find a different path and to do what he wanted without any borders. Glyds, for once in his life, heeding his father's advice and took off.

Then on, the adolescent taught himself small skills to insure his survival - hunting, healing, combat. He was inexperienced, however, only managing to hunt the smallest of prey, heal the most irrelevant scratches and could only defend himself rather than offend. The skill he currently holds was taught by an old apothecary Glyds had stumbled upon - Herald. His muzzle was unusually grey, reflective of his age an experience. He taught the adolescent to hunt larger and harder prey, to heal and bind more serious wounds and taught Glyds how to offend. The old canine's stiff joints did not disrupt his uncanny skill in combat, shown by some scars flanking Glyds' ribs.
Like every student, Glyds eventually left his teacher, continuing his travels and harbouring the memories of his family - he would never encounter any of his relatives nor his specie.

Species

Glyds's specie is split into two categories: Mountain dwellers and Forest dwellers. Physically, Glyds's build resembles a typical mountain dweller (Sluvleene Wolf). Generally, their pelts are pigmented with pale hues and are rather long. Nails are usually blunt without sharpening, but the paws that bare them have a large surface area used efficiently for scouring mountain ranges. Sluvleene's travel long distances, developing a strong and firm-toned body to atone for the energy they use hunting, scouting and defending their borders.
The Mountain dweller's counterparts are far more exotic-looking, their fur colours are limited by the appearance of one's matriarch or patriarch. Glyds carries the exotic markings of a Eodrif rather than their lean builds. But for what muscle mass the specie tends to lack, they make up for in height. (Glyds is not particularly tall.) Their height gives them the advantage particularly in hunting as they are able to attack vulnerable parts of game-like prey (Neck, stomach) without jumping and saving energy. The Forest dwellers spend their time working around their pack; all members are given specific roles in which they specialise in. The dwellers, making their home amongst the vegetation, are particularly skilled Apothecaries.

Glyds's parents originate from both species - his patriarch from the Mountain dwellers and his matriarch from the Forest dwellers. As a result of his genetics, the masculine is an efficient worker, a body built not only for combat, but for hunting also. This made him a prise for both counterparts of his specie...
