Background: Alaskan wilderness. Left as a young adult for love of a mutt named Mae
Past mate: Her name was Mae. Salamander had no idea what she was but she came from a town in Alaska. They ran away together, in search for a new place to live.
How he found Intrepidus: Salamander and Mae were mates. They wanted a warmer place to live. For a reason of course. Mae was pregnant. They both didn't want their puppies to grow up in cold harsh winter months. Although their travel was longer than expected and she went into labor. It was rigorous hours of pain for her and Salamander was trying the best he could. He was already terrified of delivering when a birthing mother from his last pack died because he didn't respond quickly in time. Mae was in bad condition. The fae didn't want to continue pushing because of the pain. So, Salamander sent Sallu out to go get something that would ease her pain. Salamander worked with Sallu as a medic in training at his birth pack. Sallu knew some herbs and their effects. The little lizard came back with some and he fed it to Mae. The she-wolf in labor stopped writhing in pain for a bit. Salamander was relieved but noticed she wasn't moving at all. Mae had gone into paralysis. Her mouth began to foam and vomit began oozing from her mouth. Suddenly convulsing, she kicked around, and stopped.
What they had fed her was actually an herb going by the nickname of wolfs bane and was confused for another herb by the stupid little lizard. Salamander knew lizards weren't as smart as wolves. Salamander panicked, realizing his pups were still alive in there...
He began gnawing and tearing at maes stomach, his ears back and terrified and devastated. Tearing away at her organs and muscles, the pups fell onto the grass in a splash of blood and birthing liquids. With his face bloody and in horror, Salamander freed them from their sacks and bit away the cords, his hot breath created a cloud in the early morning. Salamander had no choice but to latch them back onto mae. Laying right next her, he kept the pups warm. He noticed that one pup was still not moving. It was dead. Salamander began whining and howling in mourning.
As time went on, Maes body began to deteriorate. The pups were getting a bit bigger but it was no use. He had to introduce them to food quicker then he should. He dug a deep hole for her and buried her.
As time went on, one pup died of cold. The second was taken infection of the lungs. The third, the one who most resembled Mae herself, he named after her, was taken by him. Mae was hungry and she refused to eat from the loss of her littermates. He had to put her to rest.
Not long after, Salamander and Sallu found intrepidus.
